Ripe Olives For Chanukah Oil Making

We're taking a limited number of orders for ripe olives this December as a test. A trial conducted mid November yielded favorable results, so we are expanding the program in response to folks interested in making olive oil for Chanukah. 

We're watching the ripening process to ensure good oil content and balancing that against the weather. We cannot harvest in wet conditions, however, as of Friday, December 5th we are scheduled to start the harvest and packing process Monday December 8th to arrive BEFORE Chanukah.

How to Calculate Arrival for Chanukah Olives

Please check the UPS map on this page for your location and estimate arrival. Example:  Orders shipping on Monday will arrive in New Jersey (burgundy map color) on Friday, December 12th; if the destination is upstate New York (orange map color) the arrival will be the following day Saturday, December 13th. In all cases, this is UPS's best estimate weather permitting. Call Liz at 530-727-2004 for assistance. 

Ripe Olives for Curing (Yes!)

The olives on this page are indeed suitable for curing. We cannot guarantee they will be 100% black, however, will be hand harvesting the ripest fruit each tree. 

Green Olives for Curing

If you are interested in firm, green olives for curing, do not order this item. The fruit we ship in December be too soft and ripe. Green olive customers should click one of the links below to sign up for 2026 pre-order notification. Olives are an annual crop, and we'll have green unripe olives again late August. Information on Olive Varieties

We cannot guarantee the particular olive variety that we'll be harvesting for this expanded ripe olive test except that they will be oil olives with sufficient ripeness and oil content between 80% and 100% ripe. How we ship

All orders of fresh olives are hand packed to order the same day we harvest and then shipped via UPS Ground from the American Olive Farmer "Fresh Olive Rally Point" in Corning. Shipping charges are based on a 20 lb box plus packaging and are based on what UPS charges us from our location to yours. 

We also offer this item in a smaller, 10 lb box for your convenience.
