January 2025 Carrier Service Disruptions
Parcel Carrier Anticipated Impacts
In addition to any typical regional winter weather delays there are two extraordinary events that are affecting parcel deliveries January 2025.
California Wildfires
Our thoughts are with all of those affected by the devastating wildfires in Southern California. Our carrier partners are providing pickup and delivery services throughout affected areas; however, service is subject to local conditions and as restrictions allow.
- Delays should be expected in and out of impacted areas from all carriers, including the following zip codes: 91001, 91009, 91003, 90272, 90049, 90401, 90402, 90265, 91011, 91012, 91023. 91107, 91104, 91103, 91342, 90265, 90101, 90290, 91042, 91214.
There will be some shipments to non-serviceable locations, and ShipBob will do our best to have those shipments returned for reshipment.
In addition to the general update from ShipBob, FedEx published this update 16 January:
US Presidential Inauguration in Washington DC
The 2025 US Presidential inauguration is scheduled for Monday, January 20 in Washington, DC. FedEx has implemented contingency plans to maintain pick-up and delivery services throughout the city, but delays are possible due to road closures and heightened security. FedEx services may be limited or delayed throughout parts of Washington DC from Friday, January 17 through Tuesday, January 21. FedEx lists 194 zip codes in the affected area! Here is the FedEx page with specifics regarding FedEx service disruptions that you can download to check if your WDC area location is affected.
Although I have not received a service disruption notice from UPS, I anticipate that the issue is the same for all parcel carriers at this time for the WDC area.
