How to add a gift message

Our website software currently only allows one recipient address per transaction. This means that if you're shipping gifts to more than one location you'll need to complete one order at a time. It also means that you can personalize a unique gift sentiment per order.

Where to find the gift message option before check out

The gift message option appears in your shopping cart near the bottom of the page on the left. It is okay to leave this field blank, however, if you're sending a package to anyone other than yourself I recommend that you at least include a note identifying you as the sender. This step must be completed before check out. I've added an example of how your cart will look on desktop.

Appearance of your Message 

Gift notes for olive oil, vinegar, and other items shipping from our 3rd party fulfillment company (3PL) are printed in black and white on 4" x 6" thermal paper.

The message field can display up to 500 text-based and special characters. This software is managed by the 3PL, and at this time there is only one font and format available as per the example below. The headline reads, "A Gift for You", your message follows, and then the American Olive Farmer logo appears at the bottom.

Gift Messages for Olive Trees

I'm pleased to offer a genuinely handcrafted look with custom printed gift messages for all of our olive tree gifts. These gift tags are also complimentary. 

Each tag measures 1⅞" x 3¼" and is printed on an off white card stock. We'll do our best to fit your message onto the available space, which is 10 characters under the olive branch, followed by 7 rows which hold 14 characters each. If you wish to include a longer message please contact me and we'll enclose a special note on your behalf.

Because olive trees are live plants they require some care upon arrival, so we tie a little care card directly behind your personalized gift sentiment. If you do not choose a message, our nursery prints a few lines from American poet, Lucy Larcom, "He who plants a tree, plants a hope.", as shown below.
