Whiskey Oak Seasonings is one of the few products on the market made by smoking over real wood and not an effect gained by the shortcut of "liquid smoke". The producer, Kirk, uses a unique hand built smoker and slowly smokes in small batches using wood from retired whiskey barrels.
The sugar he uses is a raw sugar which is transformed when it is slowly smoked, giving finished products a sophisticated sweetness.
Suitable for both cooking and finishing. Top suggestions include grilled salmon or other seafood; topping pies, tarts, and cobblers, or using some or in a smoky crème brûlée, or various puddings, custards, and ice cream. Rim cocktail glasses for a smoky twist.
